The idea of a partnership between Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) of France and the Catena family of Argentina was born in 1999. The initial enthusiasm became reality with the plan to produce a unique wine combining French and Argentine tradition and their emblematic grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The Catena family brought 3 generations of knowledge of Mendoza’s high-altitude terroirs and its passion for Malbec; DBR (Lafite) contributed its century-old experience in making and ageing Cabernet Sauvignon, along with the art of assemblage. The winery occupies one of the oldest cellars in Mendoza.
