Luján de Cuyo

Bodega Luigi Bosca

Mendoza’s most historic winery, a DOC Luján pioneer

Founded in 1901 by Leoncio Arizu (a Basque who had arrived 10 years earlier) together with the Bosca family from Piedmont, Italy. The oldest family winery in Mendoza, now run by the 4th generation under Alberto Arizu. They drove and co-founded Argentina’s first DOC (Luján de Cuyo DOC) in 1989 – their Malbec Single Vineyard DOC was the first wine certified under it. The Vistalba Malbec vineyard is over 80 years old. 7 vineyards and more than 700 hectares centred on Luján de Cuyo. Biodynamic principles applied in the vineyard. Finca El Paraíso is key to its identity; Finca Los Nobles in Las Compuertas (over 1,000 m above sea level, vines more than 90 years old). The iconic Gala collection (4 blends). Pinnacle: Paraiso. The fourth generation is in charge.
